Jill Fleuriet, Ph.D.

Dr. Fleuriet is a cultural and medical anthropologist, professor, and higher education administrator at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Her roots are in south Texas. She grew up in Harlingen, Texas in a family with a long history of professional and volunteer service. What drew her to UTSA remains her primary professional motivation: to engage in research, teaching, and service that help to understand sociocultural processes that influence health, health care and well-being in south Texas communities, especially along the southern border with Mexico. Her scholarship is inextricable from her pedagogy, service, and leadership. Her work in Honors Education at UTSA is to offer more students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to pursue their intellectual curiosity through financially supported, experiential and transformative learning experiences that directly contribute to next steps in employment, civic engagement or graduate education.
